Founder of Ashram

The credit of starting Sai Birdh Ashram goes to (Late) Ms. URMIL KUMARI, who was a very kind hearted, pious and generous lady. She was a President Awardy teacher in Govt. School in Village Chaura and retired from this school during Sept., 2000. She had a firm ambition of serving the unattended old aged senior citizens of society, who either have no source of livelihood and no place to live or are deserted by their own children, when they needed care, help and intimate emotional service, the most. She discussed her desire to setup an Old Age Home with the then Village Chaura Sarpanch, who after consulting with the then Panchayat members, very kindly consented to donate 1600 Sq Yds of Panchayat Land, for the construction of a Birdh Ashram in their Village. Ms. Urmil Kumari immediately donated Rs. 12 lacs received as Pensionery benefits on her retirement, for the construction of part of this Ashram. She also consumed her other savings in this project. After that Col. Karminder singh (Retd), a dedicated Social Worker, who was already looking after hundreds of Deaf, Dumb, Blind and Specially-abled children and Mrs. Pratibha Sharma, a retired High School Principal joined as President and Gen. Secretary respectively, who co-opted few other members to constitute a dedicated and sincere Executive Committee to arrange for the resources for further expansion, irnprovement of existing infrastructure and day-to-day running of Ashram. With the generous lump-sum monetary donations of some Donors, donation of various facilities by some individuals/social working groups/NGO's and monthly contributions from many individual donors, road map of planned expansion was drawn and works started in phased manner. Sai Birdh Ashram, as is standing in its present position is boasting to be one of the best Birdh Ashram in the area having all requisite facilities for safe, tension-free, comfortable and healthy living of the residents.

Sai Birdh Ashram now has a full operational capacity of housing 50 old age/disabled residents (ladies or gents), where they are provided with all necessities, like

  • Summer/Winter cloths.
  • Toiletries and other daily use items.
  • Nutritious food five times a day (breakfast, midday milk/tea with snacks, lunch, evening tea with snacks and dinner).
